Málaga was for years a passing-through town to the Costa del Sol resorts. In the last fifteen years the city has redone its port (Muelle Uno), added several major museums, and convinced almost everyone that it deserves a weekend break. Picasso was born here and the museum holds family-loaned work. The Alcazaba (Moorish citadel) sits right above the Roman theater downtown. Fried fish (espetos de sardinas grilled on bamboo skewers) is the dish, eaten on the beach with cold beer.
