Los Angeles is sprawl as a design choice — the city has more registered neighborhoods than most countries have cities. The famous tourist things (Hollywood Sign, Walk of Fame, Universal) are mostly disappointing. The real LA is in the neighborhoods: K-Town's 24-hour food scene, Silver Lake / Echo Park's coffee and bookstore strip, Venice and Abbot Kinney, the Arts District downtown, the Getty on its hill. PCH north to Malibu is one of the great drives. The food is the best argument for the city — every cuisine here, most better than in the home country.
