Alaçatı was a Greek village before the 1923 population exchange — the architecture is whitewashed stone with blue shutters, and the streets are narrow on purpose. The town has been carefully restored over the past 20 years and now reads as Turkey's answer to Mykonos minus the cruise ships. The wind funnels through the bay reliably enough that it's one of Europe's premier windsurfing spots. Wednesday market is a religion. Stay in a stone-cottage hotel in the old town and walk everywhere.
